The China International Cosmetics, Personal and Home Care Products Raw Materials Exhibition (PCHi 2025) grandly opened at the China Import and Export Fair in Guangzhou on February 19,2025. As the industrys opening event, PCHi 2025 brings together 800 exhibitors from over 20 countries and regions, providing an excellent platform for the launch of innovative products and the presentation of groundbreaking achievements.

Yiwei Shi, with ecological environment laboratory, hyperspectral detection, two-photon detection and other technologies, appeared at the 3F02 booth in Hall 3.1, and successfully held the theme forum of digital transformation: new engine of cosmetics industry and new future of efficacy evaluation on the afternoon of February 19, leading the new development of the industry with innovative technology.

 


1. Special review

On February 19th, Yiwu held a forum session in Conference Room 9 of Hall 6.1. The forum mainly focused on the theme of "Digital Transformation: New Engine of Cosmetics Industry and New Future of Efficacy Evaluation", and invited many industry experts to gather here for academic discussion and exchange.

Professor Liu Wei, former director of the Dermatology Hospital at the General Air Force Hospital, introduced the skin color profile of the Chinese population and the current state of the whitening market in China. In his speech, Professor Liu mentioned that in recent years, with the growing popularity of "functional skincare" concepts in the domestic market, Chinese consumers have developed a greater demand for advanced functions beyond basic cleansing and hydration. Among these, the demand for lightening and whitening has shown a continuous upward trend, becoming a necessity in functional skincare. The skincare awareness of contemporary Chinese consumers is continuously increasing, and their concepts and needs for whitening are also showing a trend towards greater scientific rigor and refinement.

Dr. Lai Wei, the head of the Department of Dermatology at the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, shared online with the audience how AI can help consumers intuitively experience the effects of cosmetics. Dr. Lai stated that efficacy is the primary driving force behind consumer choice in cosmetics. How to better present the products efficacy to consumers is crucial for marketing. The integration of AI technology is bringing revolutionary changes to the cosmetics industry. It makes the abstract concept of "efficacy" more visible and quantifiable, helping consumers understand the value of products more intuitively, thereby enhancing their trust and purchasing decisions. Professionals in the cosmetics industry should also embrace new technologies, leveraging AI to make the efficacy of cosmetics more scientific, intuitive, and vivid, making it easier for consumers to see.

Our companys Chief Engineer Liu Qi introduced how to utilize advanced efficacy testing equipment, combined with big data models and AI algorithms, to study complex real-world scenarios. For example, hyperspectral imaging (HSI) uses spectrometers to continuously scan the spectral lines of imaging objects in ultraviolet (UV), visible light (VIS), infrared, and even mid-infrared bands, generating three-dimensional datasets that reflect biochemical and histological characteristics of tissues, enabling quantitative detection of skin components. In response to the current industrys strong demand for visualizing efficacy, our company has independently developed a 3D facial color imaging system that can convert data into color distribution maps, making product effects immediately apparent.

Dr. Wu Yue from Beijing Technology and Business University mainly focuses on the study of skin morphology and the development of algorithms for evaluating cosmetic efficacy. Her research includes the development of image-based skin feature index algorithms and multimodal studies, as well as the establishment of cosmetic evaluation methods based on images and artificial intelligence. At the conference, she shared many interesting and pioneering studies using computer vision in the evaluation of cosmetic efficacy. The aim is to quickly and non-invasively understand consumer needs, construct a pathway connecting skin morphology with physiology, and provide a scientific foundation and objective evaluation tool for the development of cosmetic ingredients and products.

Yang Jie, head of research and development of Basic research Department of Shandong Huatang Biotechnology Co., LTD., gave a keynote speech on "Advanced whitening and scenario-based testing". Two aspects of "Research on skin color of Chinese young women's bodies" and "Half Mu Hua Tian body whitening solution" were shared in detail. Yang Jie said that the main causes of body pigmentation in young Chinese women focus on the way of sun protection in summer, lifestyle habits, hairstyles and genetics. According to the three dimensions of skin color, improve skin red, black, yellow, multi-dimensional whitening is in line with Chinese skin color and skin characteristics, suitable for Chinese skin.
